Dumped at the side of a busy highway, Runner is now safe…

No sooner had Borko’s media team left Bulgaria, when Melissa and Michelle were involved in yet another dramatic rescue. Driving out of Sofia to visit friends, they were shocked to see a young dog sprinting down a busy dual carriageway desperately trying to catch up with a car speeding away. This poor lad ran for over 2km, and with hearts in their mouths, all Melissa and Michelle could do was follow him with hazard lights on and try to ‘shepherd’ him to the side of the road, yet the desperate boy resisted and kept swerving all over the road, so of course so did we to protect him, much to the impatience of other motorists!! Eventually he tired and stopped, so we pulled over, yet he was stressed, disoriented and scared so he then ran back the other way – we followed cautiously not to make him run faster and eventually after a lot of patience coaxed him to us with the aroma of a tasty can of food, which he promptly devoured the whole can!

We of course couldn’t resist calling him ‘Runner’ and he is such a remarkable boy. Even after his ordeal, he allowed us to simply pick him up and put him in the car, even though he was so scared bless him.

Runner is absolutely adorable, so friendly to all and very calm … he has obviously been very well cared for, only very slightly underweight, with good teeth, not a single flea on him, in very good health, we can’t help but wonder …. why do this to such a sweet boy?

He travels well in a car (even after eating a whole can of food!), is so relaxed, friendly to all… even gave a little play bow when he met our friends and was great with their dogs too.

Runner is now safely in our rural kennels and is available for adoption immediately – he is around 18kg and anyone who chooses him will have the most incredible companion. He is very cute too, he has that little wrinkled furrowed brow that is simply irresistible ♥

If anyone would like to adopt or foster the adorable Runner, please contact us! Thank you ♥

And if anyone would like to help us with Runner’s kenneling fees and neutering/vaccination costs we would be very, very grateful. Our costs are rising by the day and without your help we are struggling.

Thank you from K9 Rescue and Runner ♥

Thank you for saving this dog from a possible death. I had been crying because I was thinking about a pet I no longer have and miss so much. This made me smile. Thank you!

Homestar! Good thing you were in the right place at the right time. Hopefully he’ll figure out that his previous people weren’t worth missing.
